Framingham High’s Level 3 Ranking Seen as a 'Technicality'

Superintendent of Schools Stacy Scott told Framingham Patch the district is having a conversation with the state to upgrade the high school's classification.

Framingham High School based on its 2012 MCAS performance may have bene classified as Level 3 status by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, but that doesn’t appear to be a bad thing from the perspective of school administrators. The state's education department is using a new system to evaluate schools across the Commonwealth and a greater degree of emphasis is placed on how successful a school district or individual school narrows achievement gaps among its students. Editor's Note: Narrowing the achievement gap means that both high and low income students perform at about the same level or that students in special education programs and non-special education programs perform at the same levels or students …

Regardless of the ranking that FHS was assigned, both my kids graduated from FHS recently and due to their AP scores will be able to graduate college a semester early. Framingham has a fabulous high school with a varied course catalog, an extensive AP program and some of the most enthusiastic, motivated teachers I've ever had the pleasure to meet.   more ›

McAuliffe Charter Only Level 1 Middle School in Framingham, Natick

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education classified the Christa McAuliffe Regional Public Charter School as Level 1, placing it among the top 25% of schools in the state.

When the MCAS results were released last week, the Christa McAuliffe Regional Public Charter School was classified by the state as a Level 1 school, placing it among the top 25% of schools in the Commonwealth. The Christa McAuliffe Regional Charter Public School was the only middle school in Framingham and Natick to achieve the highest rating by the state (level 1). The school recently had its charter renewed, while celebrating its 10th anniversary. The Level 1 rating means the middle school is meeting the needs of its 269 students enrolled (It has more than 300 students in 2012-13).
