Valerie Enge, a senior at Marian High School in Framingham, was named a finalist in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Player of the Week program. Enge is a captain of the Marian High girl’s soccer team and has played on the Varsity team since her freshman year. She is the daughter of Eric Enge and Beth Dill of Southborough.

Both the Marian baseball team and softball team have gaudy records and will be highly seeded this week as the state tournament pairings are announced today.
Marian High’s baseball and softball teams will both be playing in the post season but Keefe Tech's season is finished. BASEBALL: Marian wins 15th game Marian ended the season the same way it started with a convincing win over cross-town rival Keefe Tech. The Mustangs beat Keefe Tech 10-6 on Thursday to finish the season at 15-5. With 15 wins in 20 games, Marian is anticipating a fairly high seed. The seedings will be announced today, May 31 and first round play starts on Thursday. Against Keefe Tech, Marian’s Derek Frasca and James Feliciano each had two hits. BASEBALL: Marian wins rare Sunday game Charlie Durkin threw a two-hit, complete game and struck out 13 as Marian defeated Catholic Central Small rival Pope John XXIII, 8-0, Sunday. Both the Marian baseball and softball teams recorded their ninth wins of the season last week.
Marian High had a good week in both baseball and softball with a combined four wins. Keefe Tech picked up its eighth win in boys volleyball, while the Marian track team had a win for the boys and a loss for the girls. BASEBALL: Marian scores 20 runs in a pair of wins Freshman Brian LeBlanc pitched a complete game four-hitter in Marian’s 10-2 win over St. Clement in a Catholic Central Small Conference baseball game, last Tuesday. Derek Frasca, had three hits, Alex Holt banged out two hits and recorded four RBI, James Siciliano had one hit and scored three times, and RJ McCarthy had a hit and an RBI. The halfway point of the spring sports season will come this week for many high school teams. At both Marian High and Keefe Tech, some teams will add to their winning records as they head for post-season play in their respective leagues and at the state level. Other teams are struggling and will have to find ways to raise their records above .500. Baseball, softball and lacrosse teams show improvement.
The Marian High spring sports teams all appear to be on the ascendancy. The individual teams are generally young, with many underclassmen on rosters. But for the most part, those sophomores and juniors have experience and are joined by talented freshmen. The combination should bring more wins to each program. BASEBALL: It is all about pitching and good defense Marian will depend on its solid defense and good pitching to do well this year, according to Nick Faggas, who is in his third year as head coach. “We have three solid pitchers and our defense is much better,” said Faggas.
