Mass Pharmacy Board Director Fired For Failing to Investigate Framingham Pharmacy

Massachusetts Health Commissioner said Wednesday the state uncovered a complaint against the the Framingham pharmacy by a Colorado pharmacy and that the director failed to investigate or take action.

Massachusetts fired the director of its Board of Pharmacy after he failed to investigate a complaint against New England Compounding Center. The Framingham specialty pharmacy is linked to a deadly, national meningitis outbreak that has infected more than 400 people and killed 31. Oficials from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts said Wednesday they uncovered a complaint against the Framingham-based NECC by a Colorado pharmacy regulators months before the outbreak. NECC was distributing drugs without patient-specific prescriptions said the complaint.
