McAuliffe Charter Students Earn Art Honors

A seventh grade student won a Gold Key Award and an eighth grade student earned honorable mention in the 2013 Globe Scholastic Art Awards.

Two Christa McAuliffe Regional Charter Public School students received Globe Scholastic Art Awards. Seventh grade student Aira Erguiza won a Gold Key Award for "We Are All Individuals." Eighth grade student Ivy Stoner, of Framingham, was awarded an honorable mention for "Pop Art Illusion Cube."

NASA Scientist Engages Students at Christa McAuliffe Charter School

Keeping the memory alive for whom his school is named for, science teacher Dan Anderson invited to class Sam Ortega, from the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL., as part of the school's Second Annual Space Expedition project.

Wednesday morning, eighth grade students at the Christa McAuliffe Regional Public Charter School were given a science lesson by a NASA scientist. Science Teacher Dan Anderson brought in Sam Ortega, from the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL., as part of his team's 8th grade Second Annual Space Expedition project. Students will display their project in February. Ortega, who works out of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, near the rocket center, is the manager of the Centennial Challenges Program. The program is NASA's space project and challenge program for independent companies, colleges, and schools.

Medieval Times at McAuliffe

McAuliffe Regional Public Charter School 8th grade students had a hands on lesson about Medieval Europe this afternoon.

McAuliffe Regional Charter Public School 8th grade students welcomed a visitor from the past to kick off their study of Medieval Europe Friday afternoon.  Anne Rookey, mother of 8th grade student, Elizabeth, shared her passion for the Middle Ages in a presentation given in the character of a noble woman from 14th Century England. Students were introduced to Medieval society by learning about what life was like for those who worked, those who ruled, those who fought and those who prayed.  After the presentation, students experienced the Middle Ages for themselves by participating in an interactive museum where they tried everything from donning period clothes, to playing medieval games, spinning wool into thread and creating illuminated …
