$6,500 MutualOne Grant Supports Free Legal Representation For Those In Need

Mutual One Foundation awarded MetroWest Legal Services a $6,500 grant.

Mutual One Foundation awarded MetroWest Legal Services a $6,500 grant, announced Robert P. Lamprey, chair of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation. Based in Framingham, MetroWest Legal Services provides free legal advocacy in civil cases to protect and advance the rights of the poor, elderly, disabled, homeless and other disenfranchised individuals.  “We feel very fortunate to count MutualOne Bank and the MutualOne Charitable Foundation among our most dedicated supporters,” said Executive Director Elizabeth Soule. Governor Nominates Framingham Attorney To Be Judge

Megan H. Christopher, who has practiced law for 22 years at MetroWest Legal Services, was nominate to be a circuit judge in the Massachusetts probate and family court system.

Governor Deval Patrick announced the nominations of experienced Framingham attorney Megan H. Christopher as a circuit judge in the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court. Also nominated was Patrick W. Stanton associate justice of the Plymouth County Division. “It is an honor to nominate these well qualified and highly respected attorneys to the Probate and Family Court,” said Governor Patrick in a press release. “I am confident that they have the experience, knowledge and temperament to excel on the bench and I thank them for their willingness to serve.” Christopher has practiced law for 22 years at MetroWest Legal Services in Framingham, representing low income and elder clients in administrative and court proceedings, with a focus on …

Framingham Organizations Receive $68,000 in Grants from Foundation for MetroWest

Nine Framingham organizations awarded grants by the Foundation for MetroWest.

Foundation for MetroWest announced Advocates, Inc., Amazing Things Art Center, Bethany Hill School, Framingham Adult ESL, Jewish Family Service of MetroWest, JRI Health, MetroWest Legal Services, Performing Arts Center of MetroWest, and South Middlesex Opportunity Council, Inc. of Framingham are receiving grants totaling $68,000 as part of their 2011 grant cycle.  The award was madelast week at an event held at Mass Audubon’s Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary in Natick, where a total of $162,000 was distributed to organizations throughout the region. Police Awarded Grant for 35 Defibrillators

MetroWest Community Health Care Foundation awarded the grant to the Framingham Police. The organization also awarded a grant to Boston University which will provide specific dental services for Framingham Public School second graders.

The MetroWest Community Health Care Foundation today, June 2 announced it approved grants totaling more than $290,500 to improve the health of the Framingham community. The grants were approved by the Framingham Union Grants Panel and are part of a larger round of funding from the foundation. In total, 13 grants, worth more than $600,000 were awarded in the MetroWest area to address unmet health needs. Framingham grants awarded: * Framingham Police Department received $44,485 to purchase 35 new automated external defibrillators. * MetroWest Legal Services received $158,208 for the KidsCare program which connects Framingham children with health care by making referrals, providing transportation and helping families overcome cultural …
