Funeral Held for TJX Employee Jill Hurley, 38

The Framingham High Class of 1993 graduate and logistics manager at TJX Corporation died Easter Sunday at MetroWest Medical Center.

Jill Hurley, 38, of Framingham, died Sunday, March 31, 2013 at the Metrowest Medical Center, Framingham. Born in Wellesley, She was the daughter of Charlene M. (White) Hurley of Framingham and the late Kevin J. Hurley who died in 2012. She was a graduate of Framingham High School class of 1993 and Wheelock College in Boston. She worked as a logistics manager at the TJX Corporation in Framingham, and formerly worked for Firestone and Walgreens Corporation. Besides her mother, she is survived by her brother Greg Hurley and his wife Amy of Bellingham, her paternal grandmother, Virginia Hurley of CT and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral arrangements were by Norton Funeral Home. A funeral was held Friday, April 5. In lieu of flowers, …

MetroWest Medical Center ER Wait Times Comparable to Other Regional Hospitals

Medicare database shows how hospitals across Massachusetts—and the nation—compare for care. Hospitals, meanwhile, criticized the data as inaccurate.

Which MetroWest emergency room is the most efficient? It depends on what you mean, according to data released by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services. At MetroWest Medical Center, the average time patients spent in the emergency department before they were seen by a healthcare professional was 26 minutes, which is much quicker than the state and national averages of 40 and 30 minutes. Of those patients, the average time patients spent in the MetroWest Medical Center emergency department before being sent home was 155 minutes, compared to the state average of 152 minutes and the national average of 140 minutes.  Finally, the average time patients spent in the MetroWest Medical Center emergency department, before they were admitted to…

Guests Gossip About Hospital Food at 3rd Annual Taste of MetroWest

More than 1,000 people dined and drank their way through 50 booths at the 3rd Annual Taste of MetroWest, presented by the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce Tuesday night.

Who hasn't heard someone complain about hospital food? Tuesday night, many were talking about MetroWest Medical Center's food but it was a good thing. Taste attendee Leslie Singer Useloff said she "loved the 'hospital food' from Metro West Medical Center." She was not the only one. MetroWest Medical Center won "best appetizer" for its Margarita Shrimp and "best presentation" at the 3rd Annual Taste of MetroWest at the Sheraton Tuesday night. The event, which attracts more than 1,000 attendees and 50 of the area's best restaurants and brewers, is presented by MetroWest Chamber of Commerce. Workers at the Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick picketed Monday afternoon for increased staff.

Holding picket signs that read "be fair to those who care" and chanting "we are mighty mighty nurses," dozens of employees of the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick protested Monday afternoon for increased staff numbers in order to better treat patients.  "Every patient deserves a nurse to provide basic care," Katie Murphy, an employee of the Leonard Morse hospital, said.  In a press release issued by the hospital's staff on Monday, nurses said they treat too many patients at once, which compromises their ability to provide care.  "When nurses have too many patients to care for at one time, complications are more likely and here at MetroWest, we have been warning management about these conditions for months, yet they refuse to address this…

Tufts Wants Minority Stake in MetroWest Medical Center

In the deal, expected to be completed this year, Tufts Medical Center would buy a minority stake in MetroWest Medical Center, which is owned by Vanguard Health System.

Tufts Medical Center is considering teaming up with for-profit Vanguard Health System to buy independent hospitals in Massachusetts and work with Tufts’ physician organization to negotiate better deals with health insurers, reported Boston.com. The proposed alliance, while not a merger, could reshape the state’s health care industry by giving Tufts and Vanguard more clout to compete with the fast-growing Steward Health Care System as well as with Partners HealthCare System, Massachusetts’ largest medical-care provider, reported the Boston Globe. Sexual Harassment Claim Filed Against Framingham-Based Doctor

A Northborough woman has filed a complaint with the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination alleging that she was sexually harassed by a doctor, while the two worked at a physicians practice affiliated with MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.

Free Drive-Thru Flu Clinic Friday

The event will be hosted by the MetroWest Physician Services.

Preparing for flu season this winter is easier than ever at the free drive-thru flu vaccine clinic to be held by MetroWest Physician Services Friday, Sept. 23, from 1 to 6 p.m at its 260 Cochituate Rd. Vaccine recipients can drive in to the parking lot, where they will be greeted by MetroWest Physician Services staff. After displaying their health-insurance card and signing a consent form, they can roll down their window, roll up their sleeve and get their annual flu shot, administered by a registered nurse, without leaving their car. MetroWest Physician Services doctors will also be on hand at the event to answer questions relating to the vaccine and flu. Governor Praises MetroWest Medical Center; New Patient Monitoring System [VIDEO]

MetroWest Medical Center is the first hospital in Massachusetts to commercially implement EarlySense’s contact-free patient monitoring solution. Governor Deval Patrick visited the Framingham-based medical center Tuesday.

About a month ago, MetroWest Medical Centerin Framingham took a chance on an Israeli-based technology to help save lives. MetroWest Medical Center CEO Andrei Soran, yesterday told a crowded room, which included Governor Deval Patrick, that in the brief time the new patient monitor system by EarlySense has been used, it has saved lives and significantly helped improve the care of patients. The medical center purchased 30 units from EarlySense, which opened its American headquarters in Waltham this month. The company's decision to locate to Massachusetts was based on the governor's trade mission to Israel in March.
