MutualOne Helps Amazing Things Arts Center Upgrade Sound Systems

MutualOne Charitable Foundation awards $5,000 to downtown Framingham art center.

With its recent $5,000 grant from the MutualOne Charitable Foundation, the Amazing Things Arts Center in downtown Framingham will update its sound equipment to meet today’s standards for cable TV rebroadcasts, said Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president of MutualOne Bank and a trustee of the Charitable Foundation. The Foundation’s donation will be used to enhance and replace a digital sound board, microphones, and other sound-related equipment. Amazing Things produces more than 330 shows each year, attracting nearly 20,000 people of all ages and backgrounds. The MutualOne Charitable Foundation of Framingham recently awarded $5,000 to Family Promise Metrowest, which offers help to homeless families with children.

The MutualOne Charitable Foundation of Framingham recently awarded $5,000 to Family Promise Metrowest, a Natick-based interfaith partnership offering transitional shelter, meals and supportive case management to homeless families with children as they seek permanent housing. Founded in 2008, Family Promise Metrowest currently involves 40 congregations and over 1,800 volunteers throughout the Metrowest area. The program’s 15 host congregations furnish overnight lodging and meals for three to five families for one week every two to three months. MutualOne Charitable Foundation awarded $5,000 to Friends of Literacy Unlimited.

MutualOne Charitable Foundation awarded $5,000 to Friends of Literacy Unlimited. Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and trustee of the Foundation, announced the award. Literacy Unlimited is a free program of the Framingham Public Library that trains volunteer tutors to teach adult learners in English as a second language, citizenship, and GED preparation, as well as reading, writing and math for English speakers. The Foundation’s award will support the program’s Life Resource Project, an initiative to collect information of topics of practical concern to students, such as how to get a driver’s license, pass the citizenship test, register a child for school, get health care, find housing, and prepare their taxes. The MutualOne Charitable Foundation has provided a total of $12,500 in support of Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly initiatives over the past three years.

The Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly’s Shillman House in Framingham recently received $5,000 from the MutualOne Charitable Foundation, said Foundation Chair Robert P. Lamprey in a press release. Framingham Co-Operative, Natick Federal Savings to Become MutualOne Bank Monday

Online banking and online bill payment will be temporarily unavailable starting today, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. until Monday morning. Bank branches will be closed on Saturday.

Back in March, Framingham Patch reported that Framingham Co-Operative bank and Natick Federal Savings Bank would merger later this year. The merger will take place this weekend, after regulators approved it. The new bank will be called MutualOne Bank. Signs have been appearing on the three locations this week. The combined bank will consist of three full-service banking offices, two located in Framingham and one in Natick, with an administration center in Framingham. "Increasing regulatory and operational expenses make it very difficult for the small community bank to thrive," said Brian K.
