Framingham residents Tony Tolson and Sharon Gilbert were honored for their work with children at the 21st Annual Salute to Framingham Wednesday night.
Framingham resident Sharon Gilbert, with her son Timothy, would collect toys for needy children for Christmas. One year she learned that the toys she was donating were not going to local children in Framingham; and she knew there were many children in need. So in 2007, she launched Timothy's Toy Box. The Framingham North graduate and her son Timothy, now a fourth grade student at Dunning Elementary, in the last six years, have helped almost 1,000 local children and collected more than 5,000 toys. Sharon Gilbert, along with Framingham Youth Football Coach Tony Tolson were honored as this year's recipients of the Salute to Framingham award. The 2013 Salute To Framingham will recognize teachers and staff who go the extra mile to make each day "special" in the Framingham public schools.
In addition to honoring Sharon Gilbert and Tony Tolson for their outstanding commitment and service to the youth of Framingham, the 2013 Salute To Framingham will recognize Framingham teachers and staff who go the extra mile to make each day "special" in the Framingham public schools. This's year's Salute to Framingham honorees are Sharon Gilbert and Tony Tolson. In 1992, the Salute to Framingham was created to honor individuals for their outstanding commitment and service to Framingham’s youth. These honorees join a select group of people who have made a real difference in the lives of the children of Framingham. Sharon Gilbert is the owner and founder of Timothy’s Toy Box, a Framingham based non-profit corporation established in 2007 to help local children in need during the holiday season. A Framingham native and Framingham North High School graduate, she works tirelessly throughout the year to fundraise, collect donations, and wrap and distribute the toys. 20th Annual Salute to Framingham scheduled for Thursday, March 22.
In 1992, the Salute to Framingham was created to honor individuals for their outstanding commitment and service to Framingham’s youth. These honorees join a select group of people who have made a real difference in the lives of the children of Framingham. On Thursday, March 22, the 20th Annual Salute to Framingham will honor Mark and Karen Curtis and Dave Gudejko. Since 1989, Mark and Karen Curtis have been sponsoring a free Thanksgiving Day dinner for those in need. With the help of volunteers, Mark and Karen Curtis have prepared and served traditional Thanksgiving meals to thousands of needy families for more than two decades.
