More than 130 middle school students participated in the project created by a sixth grade math teacher on Tuesday, the 11th anniversary of 9/11.
Fuller Middle School sixth grade math teacher Lauren O'Malley discovered some of her new students didn't know much about Sept. 11 2001. Not much of a surprise as many of them were born in either 2000 or 2001. To teach them about the historical significance but also to help them learn how to make a difference in the world, she decided to have the entire 6th grade class at the middle school participate in the “I Will” campaign by creating a quilt. The I Will Campaign is part of an international non-profit movement to observe Sept. 11 every year as a day of charitable service and doing good deeds. The 9/11 Memorial Wall in Boston Public Garden, located near the Arlington & Newbury St entrance, includes the names of the 17 individuals with ties to Framingham, who died on Sept. 11, 2001.
We will always remember those who gave their lives on September 11. Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 13, the public is invited to keep a flag as a remembrance of the 10th anniversary event.

Press release from the Framingham Parks and Recreation: Town of Framingham would like to thank the community for attending the 10th Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony of those who lost their lives in the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, including the 17 people with ties to Framingham. Sunday's event included solemn remarks, a reading of the names on the memorial, prayer offerings, and a presentation of the colors by the Framingham Fire and Police Department Color and Honor Guards. Nearly 3,000 American flags were placed on the lawn to represent each person who lost their life on this tragic day. Framingham Police and Fire honored the victims of Sept. 11 with a vigil Sunday morning. The service began at 7:58 a.m. when the first plane took off from Logan and ended at 10:28 a.m., when the north tower collapsed.

Karin Charles, who now lives in Framingham with her husband Dennis Charles, spoke for the first time this week about losing her first husband Kenneth Zelman, was among the 2,753 people killed in the World Trade Centre on Sept. 11, 2001.
From across the country, this Patch site and hundreds of others captured the faces, keepsakes, memorials, ceremonies, flags, fund-raisers, deployments and the still-raw emotions that followed the attacks.
