School Committee Vice Chair: 'I'm Sorry This Has Taken Place'

Framingham High students and parents told Framingham School Committee change is needed after the report of two sexual assaults last spring; and the School Committee unanimously adopted a proclamation in support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

For the first time, School Committee members reacted to reports of two sexual assaults within the walls of Framingham High by one male athlete last spring. "It sadden me and shocks me, that there were incidents at the school," said School Committee Vice Chair Beverly Hugo, who has had three children graduate from Framingham High. She told students and parents who came to speak before the School Committee she was unaware of the sexual assault reports until the protest outside Framingham High last Wednesday. Police: Pizza Delivery Woman Kidnapped, Sexually Assaulted

Police arrested a Framingham man Friday night and charged him with the attacks.

Friday night, a female employee from Papa Gino's went to 1 Kendall St. to deliver an order to an apartment. The woman, 22, told police the man who lives at the apartment held her "against her will for 40 minutes." "He got in front of the door every time she tried to leave," said Framingham Police Lt. Ron Brandolini. Police said the man was intoxicated and told the woman "he wanted her for a wife and to start a family with her," said Brandolini. Th woman reported the attack. Framingham Police arrested Jonathan Quinlan, 42, at his 1 Kendall St., apartment Friday at 6:57 p.m. He is charged with kidnapping by confinement, indecent assault and battery and assault and battery. Students Concerned With Delayed Sexual Assault Notifications

Four assaults on campus prompted leaders at Framingham State University to hold a meeting with the student body.

Framingham State University students spoke up today at a meeting about the four sexual assaults on campus: “Why weren’t we notified.” The meeting was lead by FSU President Timothy Flanagan, Campus Police Chief Brad Medeiros and Dean of Students Melinda Stoops. “We want to answer questions and hear feedback from the students,” Flanagan said. Campus leaders sent out an email to students after the first incident on Sept. 19, but many students said they had already heard about the incidents and noticed the news crews on campus. “I was on Facebook when I heard about the first incident,” freshman Samantha Odell said. “It wasn’t until a few hours later that we were notified by the university.” According to Medeiros, the campus has a text alert …

Framingham State University Police this morning issued a safety alert for the fourth sexual assault in a dorm this month.

UPDATED at 1:25 p.m. with University statement below. *** Framingham State University has kicked a second male student off campus, pending an investigation, after the fourth report of a sexual assault in a dorm. Framingham State University Police issued a safety alert to students this morning. It states "On Sept. 28, at 3:05 a.m., a female resident student reported she was the victim of a forcible sex offense that occurred in North Hall. UPDATED: 3 Sexual Assaults Reported on Framingham State Campus

The suspect has been temporarily removed from campus while these cases are still under investigation, reported the Framingham State University Police Department.

Framingham State University Police Department posted on its Facebook page that an individual was removed from campus following the report of three sexual assaults. On Sept. 19, the University Police Department was "informed of 3 separate sexual assaults that took place in Towers Hall on separate occasions. The suspect has been temporarily removed from campus while these cases are still under investigation. Convicted Rapist Pleads Guilty To Rape, Kidnapping, Robbery Charges

William French, 31, of Framingham was sentenced to 25 to 30 years in prison, following his random attack of a woman in early 2010, just weeks after being released from prison for another rape conviction.

A convicted rapist pleaded guilty today for a brutal rape of a female victim in her own home in Framingham, according to the Middlesex District Attorney Office. William French, 31, of Framingham, pleaded guilty in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn to charges of aggravated rape subsequent offense, unarmed burglary and assault, kidnapping, unarmed robbery, intimidate to steal from depository, assault and battery and malicious destruction of property over $250.   Middlesex Superior Court Judge Diane Kottmyer sentenced French to 25 to 30 years in state prison, from and after his current sentence in Worcester County.  The defendant was also sentenced to 10 years probation from and after his incarceration with conditions of release that he have…
