Power Restored to Pheasant Hill Neighborhood

After 84 hours, residents in the Pheasant Hill beighborhood have power restored. Resident talk about how they coped during the storm and stayed connected thanks to their office and Framingham Patch.

Cheers and screams of joy were likely heard in the neighborhood of Pheasant Hill at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. "After 84 hours ... the power is BACK ON in Pheasant Hill!!!!!!!!!!!!," screamed Meredith Wolff on the Framingham Patch facebook page. Wolff, who lost power during the height of Tropical Storm Irene on Sunday, was one of many in that neighborhood who stayed up-to-date storm clean-up and power restoration efforts via Framingham Patch. Wolff wasn't alone. The town estimated on Sunday about 75% of the town was without power. But as days went by and lights were turned on in many neighborhood, Pheasant Hill remained dark. On Wednesday, Aug 31 State Rep. Chris Walsh toured that neighborhood. NStar and Walsh both then told residents power …

Walsh Tours Pheasant Hill Outage Area; Offers Constituents Without Power His Office

State Rep. Chris Walsh toured the Pheasant Hill outage area today. He also released a statement to resdients on the efforts by NStar to return power.

Release from State Rep. Chris Walsh: "There are now (3 p.m.) about 5 trucks working this area, a new assessment was done this afternoon, tree work happened around 12 p.m. and there is a high level of "awareness" that this is a top priority area.  "Prior to today I had been told that crews were working on the circuits - but I wasn't able to verify that by any visual means. Both my aide and I have been in contact with NSTAR nearly constantly to break an apparent divergence of promises vs reality and I know that the Police, administration and DPW have also been aware of these issues. "I spent the day in the Pheasant Hill area and I fully expect that there will be a continual crew presence there until power is restored. I will check again that…

15% of Framingham Still Without Power, According to NStar

State Rep. Chris Walsh provides residents without power an update on where the Nstar crews are concetrated on in Framingham currently.

From Framingham State Rep. Chris Walsh: "We have had several constituent calls concerning the ongoing loss of power in their neighborhoods and have been speaking with NSTAR about their schedule to have all the neighborhoods re-powered.  As you can imagine there are many communities in the same boat or worse and since there was no loss of life or instances of major  property damage here in Framingham we might be somewhat relieved.  Having said that, I believe that the electric distribution system that we currently have is increasing inadequate given the critical importance and our dependence of these systems- response to a difficult circumstance is no substitution for designing a more robust and rugged system to begin with. NSTAR Framingham…

Yes, we got back power at 9:30 PM last night. It took couple of hours after I first saw the utility truck working at the Route 30 & Waveney Rd intersection. From Chris Walsh's statement on Aug 30th, I got the impression NSTAR was going to work on Waveney Rd next. That was certainly not the case. It took them another day before they got to Waveney Rd. I also called NSTAR late afternoon yesterday …   more ›

BOSTON– State Rep. Chris Walsh testified on Thursday June 9, for a bill he filed that would address the loss of property taxes and reimbursement for municipal services to local municipalities by non-profit entities. The bill would allow the Secretary of Human Services and the Massachusetts Municipal Association to reimburse municipalities through a mechanism to fund PILOT programs. “Not having a mechanism for PILOT payments puts a great deal of stress of municipalities and that in turn creates an unnecessary friction between towns and their non profit sectors," said Walsh.

The bottom line is we don't have the money to do all the things we want to do. The next big cuts will be the teachers because they are costing us too much money and the health insurance to keep them is out of site. They will fight for their share which…   more ›
