Hundreds Attend Memorial Service for Steve Orr [VIDEO]

Chow fans, gun enthusiasts, computer geeks, political insiders and Town Meeting members, along with family, friends and individuals, who never met him, crowded into Village Hall Saturday morning to pay tribute to the late Steve Orr. I am generalizing those in attendance, but only to show how many people Orr touched during his 58 years. He died Jan. 28, unexpectedly, from heart failure. His wife Krystine, wearing Orr's trademark cowboy hat, laughed and cried - and even added a few tales of her own - as speaker after speaker told their favorites memories of Orr, at a memorial service organized by State Rep. Frambors Finds a New Home At E-Democracy.org

After founder Steve Orr’s unexpected death on Monday, we wanted to find a way to carry on the legacy of his community email list Frambors. When the Frambors server crashed this week, it was clear that we needed to figure out a plan quickly.

After founder Steve Orr’s unexpected death on Monday, we wanted to find a way to carry on the legacy of his community email list Frambors. When the frambors server crashed this week then came back with limited functionality, it was clear that we needed to figure out a plan quickly. After considering a variety of options, we have decided to move the list to a non-profit host called E-democracy.org. In today's techno-savvy modern world,  where study after study suggests communicating via computers is deteriorating people's interpersonal skills, Steve Orr found a way to use technology to bring neighbors together. His creation helped residents find lost dogs, discuss their tax bills, debate issues and learn what is happening in their community. Orr who died, unexpectedly Monday from heart failure, was the creator of Frambors and Framcom, two computer list serves that allowed people to stay connected with their neighbors, their town and their community. Public Invited to Village Hall Saturday to Pay Tribute to Steve Orr

State Rep. Chris Walsh said an event has been planned at Village Hall Saturday, Feb. 2 to honor the late Steve Orr, who died unexpectedly Monday.

State Rep. Chris Walsh said an event has been planned at Village Hall Saturday, Feb. 2 to honor the late Steve Orr, who died unexpectedly Monday. It starts at 10 a.m. Attendees will be asked to share stories of Orr, who created Frambors, an online site for residents and the community. Orr also was very active in Framingham Town Government. Walsh said he would have announced the event on Frambors, but the site Orr created has been down since yesterday. Work is being done to try to get it back up and running. Residents have been paying tribute to Orr, posting thoughts of him and his contributions to Framingham, at this link. Framingham Patch will have a tribute from more Framingham residents posted later.
