The Framingham Health Department inspector ordered The Chicken Bone to toss all of its food and identified more than a dozen violations that posed an imminent health hazard. There were 8 violations related to food borne illness risk factors.  Framingham Board of Health Sanitarian Matt Armendo inspected The Chicken Bone on Tuesday, April 16 - the day after the Boston Marathon. Armendo re-inspected the Route 135 restaurant & pub on Wednesday, April 17 for the critical violations identified the day before to make sure they were fixed and corrected. Many of the violations identified were almost identical to issues brought up during the production of the Spike TV show Bar Rescue 2 years ago, said Framingham Board of Health Chair Michael Hugo. …

That sucks, I was looking forward to going after I saw the re-run of Bar Rescue... The article mentions they went back to there old ways after the contract ended with Spike TV, figures... Fine the hell out of them... The only way to get an owners attention is to hit him in the cash draw... Also put them on a quarterly inspection and have the owner reimburse the town for the cost of the inspection…   more ›

Chicken Bone Owner On Participation in Reality TV Show

Chicken Bone owner Bill Rodenhiser posted a video on You Tube and wrote a letter to customers about the establishment's participation in Spike TV's Bar Rescue show in June.

Within in the last two weeks, The Chicken Bone/The Bone owner Bill Rodenhiser has posted a You Tube Video and written a letter to customers to discuss the establishment's participation in a bar makeover television show with Spike TV. His letter to customers new and old: "In less than one week’s time we were transformed from The Chicken Bone into the BONE! Our loyal customers had already affectionately named us “The Bone” years ago so it is only fitting that our new name was, in reality, chosen by all of you. From the surface our cosmetic changes may make it appear that we have thrown away our roots but nothing could be further from the truth. Our mission is what it has always been; to provide you with great food and great live music in a …

we were at the Bone just last week, delicious as always, BUT found the new menu difficult to read in the dim light. Also liked the scaled down menu, but it can use at least one "simple sandwich".   more ›

The Chicken Bone, Angry Ham's Opt To Keep Original Names

Despite participating in a makeover television show with Spike TV, both The Chicken Bone and Angry Ham's Garage told Selectmen they prefer their old names.

Angry Ham’s Garage, on Beacon Street, and The Chicken Bone on Waverley Street will revert back to their original names the establishments told Selectmen this week. Angry Ham's and The Chicken Bone underwent a makeover about a month ago that was prompted by a cable television show that upgrades bars and strives to make them more appealing to their market. The show changed Angry Ham’s sign to read “Octane” and used that name to promote the makeover. But Angry Ham’s representatives claimed that a name change was not economically feasible and the restaurant would reinstall its original sign and name. A number of items that the TV show producers had removed from the menu will also be reinstated, representatives told Selectmen uesday night. The …

The Bone Has a New Look, Thanks to Spike TV

A popular hangout for many adult sports teams and locals, The Chicken Bone got a makeover thanks to Spike TV and its new reality show Bar Rescue.

Regulars, and a few who justed wanted a chance to be on television, lined up outside The Bone waiting to see what a Spike TV's new reality show Bar Rescue had done with Framingham's The Chicken Bone. The television show shut down the popular downtown establishment for about 48 hours in mid-June and then had a reveal party for the owner, staff, regulars and area residents. “I hope they didn’t take down the mural," said regular Jim LeClair, waiting in line outside before the grand re-opening. Jim Olimette agreed. "It was a huge mural that started in the back and went along the neighboring wall all the way up to the door.”  The mural was removed by the television show, but owner Bill Rodenhiser, the owner of The Bone said “I am so excited to …

Now that this show has aired, I would be curious to know if the owner really moved his family 75 miles away or was that some sort of realty TV exaggeration?   more ›

Have You Had a Meal at The Bone? Octane Bar & Grill?

You may have eaten at both. Spike TV this month gave both The Chicken Bone and Angry Ham's Garage new names, menus and decor. Stop by and check out the "new" establishments yourself.

Two new places in town, now to eat. Sort of. Two local restaurants/bars this month were given a full makeover, thanks to Spike TV. Last week, The Chicken Bone closed for 48 hours and re-opened as The Bone. Saturday night, the Angry Ham's Garage closed and reopened Monday night as Angry Ham's Octane Bar & Grill.  Spike TV was in town for two weeks filming two episodes of its new series Bar Rescue, which gives failing nightlife establishments one last chance at success. The new reality TV show will have its premiere Sunday, July 17, at 10 p.m. There is not an air date yet for The Bone episode, although there was talk of August. There is no air date yet for Octane either. Each local establishment had a party to celebrate its last night in its…
