What Does the Middlesex Sheriff's Office Do?

Sheriff Peter Koutoujian hopes to answer that question during an inaugural Citizens Academy.

When people talk about the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office, it's often with a vague idea of what Sheriff Peter Koutoujian and the rest of the department do. But Koutoujian hopes to change that with his new Citizens Academy, which begins April 10. As a Waltham resident, Koutoujian said he saw how well people responded to the town’s Citizen’s Academy and thought that he could bring the same concept to the Sheriff's Office. Koutoujian has been in office for more than two years, but he acknowledged most people don’t know the ins and outs of the sheriff's department and how they differ from local and state police departments. “I had been a prosecutor for four years then I worked in the court doing some defense work after that. Until I became …

Will Students Lose April Vacation? When Is the Last Day of School?

You Ask, Patch Answers.

The last of school - as of now - is Wednesday, June 26. "We are still within the number of allotted snow days. We have two days before we hit the end of June," said Framingham Superintendent of Schools Stacy Scott Tuesday night to the Framingham School Committee. "I predict there will be no more snow days," said Scott jokingly. He then added he was certain there would be no more than 2 additional snow days. School was cancelled Tuesday, as Framingham received 8.4 inches of snow. Today is the first day of spring, but weather forecasters are predicting snowflakes Thursday and colder than normal temperatures for the rest of the week. Framingham has had a total of six snow days. What is a Blizzard Watch?

Framingham is under a blizzard watch, but what exactly does that mean?

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Watch for Framingham, which in short means stay off the roads. A blizzard watch will go into effect beginning Friday and continuing into Saturday. According to the weather service, this means a potential for considerable falling or blowing snow. This will be accompanied by winds of over 35 miles per hour. Visibility will be below 1/4 mile with whiteout conditions at times. All of this means travel will be very dangerous, leading the weather service to advise people be prepared to alter any travel plans.

You Ask, Patch Answers: Where are the Bus Routes?

Framingham Public Schools Business Manager Ed Gotgart explains why the bus routes have not been published; he said should be up on the school's website today (Aug. 24).

UPDATE 1:45 p.m. Bus routes are up at www.framingham.k12.ma.us *** All week, I have been getting calls and emails from parents asking why the bus routes have not been published on the school website and why the delay - school starts Wednesday. I called the transportation office on Monday and was told they would be up later this week. I called again yesterday (as a parent) and was told they would be up on Friday night as there was a "technology issue". After getting that answer, I called Framingham Public Schools Business Manager Ed Gotgart who send Patch this response today: "The bus routes should be on the website today, hopefully by mid-day.  There was no technology glitch.  The routes are developed in Edulog software by the …
