Probation for Framingham Woman Who Killed Man While on Cell Phone and Driving
The victim's daughter and the Framingham woman who killed her father, hugged one another as they walked out of the courtroom.
A Framingham woman, who was talking on her cellphone while driving her car driving and killed a pedestrian in Worcester was placed on five years probation, reported the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. In November 2011, Yayra Dika, 31, of 27A Interfaith Terrace was talking on her phone and driving when she struck and killed, Julio Oliveras, 60 of Worcester. Dika told Police, at the time of the crash, she did not see Oliveras, who was not in a crosswalk when he crossed Lincoln Street. He died at the scene. Prosecutors said in court Tuesday that since Dika stopped, called 911, and took responsibility for her actions, it played a role in the sentence, reported the Worcester daily newspaper.
