After founder Steve Orr’s unexpected death on Monday, we wanted to find a way to carry on the legacy of his community email list Frambors. When the Frambors server crashed this week, it was clear that we needed to figure out a plan quickly.

After founder Steve Orr’s unexpected death on Monday, we wanted to find a way to carry on the legacy of his community email list Frambors. When the frambors server crashed this week then came back with limited functionality, it was clear that we needed to figure out a plan quickly. After considering a variety of options, we have decided to move the list to a non-profit host called E-democracy.org. Steven Clift, Executive Director and Founder of E-Democracy.org, met with Steve Orr and I several years ago to consult about Frambors and discussed ways of improving it, and Steven and Steve were in touch over the years and Steven has been a huge support as we make the transition, and has been helping us to make be as smooth and as painless as …

Orr, 58, died Monday unexpectedly from heart failure.

The following is a statement released by the moderators of Frambors: *** It is with heartfelt sadness and shock that we announce the death of Steve Orr, the owner and founder of the frambors email list. Steve died unexpectedly of heart failure yesterday evening at the age of 58. Right now the family would appreciate respect for their privacy as they deal with the shock of their loss. Moderators for Framcom, Frambors want subscribers, to the popular Framingham lists, to know that while the Snowtober storm temporarily knocked out the service, a fix is in the works.

The server supporting Frambors, Framcom and other related lists is still down thanks to the first snowstorm of the year. Please be patient, as it is expected that it will be several days before it is up and running. Subscribers to the lists will be notified when posts will be accepted, and all posts sent while the system has been down will likely be discarded. Kathy Vassar and Linda Dunbrack
