Groleau 3rd Fastest in State; Lewis 6th Fastest

Framingham High boys indoor track team finished 19th at the MIAA Championships on Sunday.

The Framingham Flyers captured 19th place, as a team, at the MIAA Indoor Track Championships on Sunday, on the strength of its senior captains, said head coach Chris Collins. Senior captain Ben Groleau captured third place in the 1,000-meter run, despite being cut-off several times in the race before rushing to the front pack late in the race, said head coach Chris Collins.He finished with a time of 2:30.73 and qualified for the New England Championships Friday evening at the Reggie Lewis Center. The race winner, with a time of 2:28.65, was Mansfield's Josh Lampron, who was last year's national champion in the mile. Flyers Finish 7th in States; Groleau has 11th Best 1000M Time in Nation [Video]

Senior captain Ben Groleau won the 1,000-meter at the Eastern Ma Division 1 Championships Sunday, with the 11th best time in the nation. He and his teammates Bo Lewis and Jake Devlin qualified for the all-states meet next Sunday.

Framingham High's indoor boys track team had its best finish ever at the Eastern Ma Division 1 Championship on Sunday, said head coach Chris Collins. "The Flyers placed 7th overall at the Eastern MA Division 1 Championships today," said Collins. Senior captain Ben Groleau won the 1,000-meter race, breaking his own school record with a time of 2:30.10, said Collins. It was the fourth fastest time in Massachusetts this season, according to www.atheltic.net. And according to the announcer at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Groleau's time was the 11th best time in the nation. Groleau will compete in the All-States meet Sunday. Boys Track Speeds Past Norwood Mustangs

The Framingham High boys track team defeated Norwood High at the Reggie Lewis Center 71-24 Wednesday night.

The Framingham High boys track team defeated Norwood High at the Reggie Lewis Center 71-24 Wednesday night. Coach Chris Collins said it was a great night for the team. The boys swept the one mile race, with senior Andrew Gramigna capturing first place with a time of 4.54 minutes. Junior Mike Adley finished second at 5:13 and sophomore Matt Gramigna finished third at 5:15. In the 1,000 juniors Mychal Lipson finished 1-2, with times of 2:55 and 2:59. Framingham also finished 1-2 in the 2-mile race. Senior Chris Day took first at 11;13 and sophomore Tom Bogue was 6 seconds behind. Senior Jesse Wing won the 55-meter hurdles. 4X400 Boys Indoor Relay Team Wins State Coaches Title

The boys 4x400 team ran a Framingham High indoor record time and won the state coaches event with a time of 3:29.94; the Flyers set four records this weekend.

The all-seniors team of Lawrence Serugo (51.71), Dan Fitzpatrick (54.70), Ben Groleau (52.59) and Bo Lewis (50.94) came from behind to win it with Lewis nipping two runnners on the last straightaway, said coach Chris Collins. Groleau Sets Mile Record for Bay State Conference

Framingham High girls and boys track teams both lose to Brookline Thursday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Framingham High boys indoor track captain Ben Groleau set the Bay State Conference's indoor mile record with a time of 4:21.74 minutes on Thursday, in a meet against Brookline at the Reggie Lewis Center. The Framingham High track team, however, lost to Brookline.   Senior captain Ben Lewis won three events - the long jump at 18'7", the 55-yard dash at 7.04 seconds and the 300-meter at 36.60 seconds. Groleau placed second to Lewis in the 300, his first time ever running in that event, almost qualifying for his fifth solo state meet event, said head coach Chris Collins. His time was 38.58. Flyers Boys Track Finish 5th in State Relays; Break Couple of School Records

Framingham High boys indoor track team finished fifth overall in the Massachusetts Divison 1 relays on Saturday, said head coach Chris Collins. It was the "best day in Framingham High boys indoor track recent history," added Collins. The squad also set a couple of school records. "It very easily could have been higher, but a mis-timing on the initial hurdles run made the heat line up again and the Flyers (who had a 10-plus foot margin win) fell by one 100th of a second in the rerun, finishing second in the event," and costing the team 2 points, reported Collins.
