NSTAR To Conduct Aerial Survey of Transmission Lines Next Week

Helicopters will hover low to the ground and circle around the structures for several minutes during the inspections, which are scheduled to begin in MetroWest, including Framingham, beginning April 14.

Weather permitting, beginning Monday, April 14, NSTAR Electric Distribution Co. has scheduled Infrared Transmission Aerial Surveys of its transmission lines in Massachusetts.

Haverfield Aviation is contracted to do the work, and, as in previous years, will utilize a helicopter to perform the inspections. These detailed inspections will require the flight crew to closely hover or circle around each structure for several minutes.

The contractor will check in with NSTAR every morning prior to the start of work to review the work plan.

Inspections are carried out seven days per week, weather permitting, typically between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Work is to begin along transmission corridors in MetroWest region, including Framingham.
