The Deluxe Depot Diner To Open in Downtown Framingham

The empty train station depot in downtown Framingham will become a diner this summer, modeled after ones in Newton and Watertown.

After successfully opening two diners in Newton and Watertown, restaurateur Don Levy is ready to open his third in Framingham.

The Phantom Gourmet said Levy turned an old train station depot into one of the "coolest" restaurants in Newton. (Watch the attached video.) He now wants to do the same with Framingham's empty train depot downtown.

The Deluxe Depot Diner located at 417 Waverly St. will occupy the existing Framingham train depot with an expected opening in Summer 2013.

Designed by renowned American architect H.H. Richardson, Levy's newest diner will continue to maintain the integrity of a historic building while still affording customers an extensive menu, where breakfast is provided all day long.

Voted "Best of Boston" and with glowing reviews by the Phantom Gourmet, Levy's diner has a great feel on the inside reminiscent of a rustic modern train station with fantastic decor.

There is a serious lack of "kid-friendly" diners in the MetroWest area and this place will fill the void.

A great venue for breakfast/brunch at any part of the day as well as an extensive lunch and dinner menu, the Deluxe Depot Diner features comfort foods just like Mom cooked, said Levy.

All meals are healthy and delicious, including  many gluten free and vegetarian items, said Levy.

Thirsty palates can be remedied with a unique selection of craft beers and vintage cocktails at the bar inside. The diner has high vaulted ceilings and a beautiful working fireplace.

"The Town of Framingham and the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce were tremendously helpful in the process," said Katherine Wellington, principal with IPS/Investment Property Specialist who brokered the deal.

The Deluxe Depot Diner will be at the 3rd Annual Taste of MetroWest from 5 to 8 tonight. at the Sheraton. More than 50 vendors are scheduled to be there. Tickets will be sold at the doors for $30.
