Healing the Heart of Grief

The term “bereavement” is the state of having suffered a loss.  “Grief” is the natural response to a loss either already occurred or anticipated.  The misconception is that a person suffers grief only upon a loss through death; however, grief can accompany a host of other losses or life transitions such as retirement, financial insecurity, sale of a home and/or foreclosure, or the diagnosis of a chronic long-term care disease, just to name a few!

This interactive workshop will begin to explore the topic of loss and grief, its symptoms as well as ways to maintain heart in the midst of grief.

The discussion is facilitated by Judith Chaloux, BSHS/M who is currently employed as the Bereavement Coordinator for Beacon Hospice located at 160 Speen Street, Framingham.  Judith received a certification as a Spiritual Director in 2005 and currently works with people on an individual basis.  She also earned a certification in Thanatology (study of death and dying, grief and loss) from the National Center of Death Education at Mt. Ida College in Newton in 2012.
