13th Annual Riverfest Weekend June 20-22

There are more than 40 free events in 11 communities, including four events in Framingham.

13th Annual Riverfest celebration is an opportunity to enjoy a full weekend of activities free of charge and celebrates the Sudbury, Assabet and Concord Wild and Scenic Rivers. Riverfest 2014 is scheduled for June 20-22.

The Town of Framingham will celebrate Riverfest on Saturday, June 21.

Join Conservation Administrator, Robert McArthur, for a walk “out and back” along the Carol Getchell Trail starting at 10 a.m. You will discover wildlife and plants while enjoying views of the Sudbury River.

Other events planned in Framingham include:

Self-Guided History Walk: Join the Friends of Saxonville for refreshments and a self-guided history walk in Saxonville, the oldest part of Framingham. Meet on the historic Danforth Bridge at 11 a.m. For more information, visit www.Saxonville.org or contact Lynne at lynne@damianosphotography.com. 

Family Walk Along the River: Join the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) Outdoors Rx walk especially for families with young children starting at the Danforth Bridge at 1 p.m.

On Sunday, June 22 at 2 p.m., join Bill Fadden and the AMC Boston Paddlers to paddle the upper Wild and Scenic Sudbury River. Launch at Little Farms Road in Framingham and, depending on water level and strainers, paddle up and down the river to the Saxonville Dam, Stone's Bridge, the Oxbow, etc., returning to the put-in. Bring your own water craft and life jacket (required).
