SLIDESHOW: Booktoberfest Raises $3,700 for Framingham Library Foundation

The Framingham Library Foundation has set a goal of raising $600,000 towards the cost of creating a new Christa McAuliffe Library branch.

More than 100 people attended a private tour and tasting at Jack's Abby Brewing in Framingham this weekend, as part of a fundraiser for the Framingham Library Foundation.

The event raised $3,700 said Assistant Library Director Jane Peck.

The Framingham Library Foundation has said a goal of raising $600,000 towards the cost of a new Christa McAuliffe branch library.

Peck said the Foundation has now raised about $450,000.

She said during Saturday night's event attendees sampled a total of 8 beers, including Jack's Abby Brewings's new award-winning beer Mass Rising.

Mass Rising is an American double/Imperial Pilsner style beer, that was released in June 2013 and recently took home the Gold award at the 2013 Great American Beer Festival.

Guests also had bratwurst sandwiches, to go along with the Octoberfest theme.

Peck said the Library Foundation wanted to thank Jack's Abby Brewing, Framingham Baking Company for donating the rolls for the sandwiches, Jennifer's Gourmet Take Out and Catering for the pastries, Eagles Grill for donating the grill and the Town of Framingham for loaning tables and chairs.

Framingham Library Board of Trustees Ruth Winett said the Foundation also wanted to thank Framingham Patch and Framingham Access for covering the event.
