Celebrating 2 Milestones: 92nd Birthday and 62 Years on the Air [VIDEO]

Governor Deval Patrick honored Framingham legend Pearl Oliva Tuesday.

Framingham resident Pearl Oliva, who has broadcasted her weekend show Guido Oliva Italian Hour on for 62 years, also recently celebrated her 92nd birthday.

Her father started the show in 1950 to honor the Italian community and to bring the classical culture of their Italian ancestors to the new Italian-American immigrants settling in Framingham.

Tuesday, Governor Deval Patrick helped Oliva celebrate both milestones at a celebration in Framingham.

Today, the Framingham area and the immigrants have changed. Framingham is home to one of the largest concentrations of Brazilians in America.

WSRO broadcasts almost all of its programming in Portuguese. Oliva's show, which features both English and Italian languages, is a lone exception.
