Framingham High Jazz Band Invited To Perform at Hatch Shell

For the first time, Framingham High's Jazz Band earned a gold medal at the state finals.

With their gold medal performance Saturday at the Massachusetts Association for Jazz Education state finals, the Framingham High School Jazz band has been invited to perform at the Hatch Shell in Boston on Mother's Day.

Framingham hosted the state finals of the Massachusetts Association of Jazz Education (MAJE) over the weekend. Ten high schools competed at Framingham High, with multiple high schools earning enough

This is the first time the Jazz band has earned a gold medal at the state finals.

“For the four years I have been in this Framingham Jazz Ensemble, we have earned a silver at MAJE thrice. To earn a gold medal my last and final year of high school is absolutely phenomenal," said Zack Wong, who plays trumpet.

  • Jonathan Mendoza, drums
  • Prathit Kadam, piano
  • Jeremy Galloway, guitar
  • Michael Berkson, tenor saxophone.
