Prince, who most recently worked as interim superintendent of Gill-Montague Regional Schools in Montague, told the School Committee he "saw the opportunity to give back" to Framingham.

"Framingham took a chance on me," said Prince. "Framingham inspired me to grow."

Prince had expressed interest in the permanent position when entering the district in 2012 but said following the announcement of the finalists that he had not applied for the permanent position for personal and professional reasons, cited the newspaper.

Prior to working in Montague, Price held administrative positions in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maryland, Virginia and New York. He holds a masters in education administration from Boston College.

Prince will start on July 1 and will receive an annual salary of $135,000 said School Committee Chair Beverly Hugo. He was given a 3-year contract with the school district.

Scott said Prince would bring "strength and talent" to our team.

Framingham has been without a permanent Assistant Superintendent when Christine Tyrie left for Nantucket. From January to June 2012, John Brackett served as interim assistant superintendent. The position has been open since he left.

Prince will manager system-wide initiatives and work with principals in the school district. Tyrie also had additional duties within the school district including curriculum and educational data, but Scott has hired a Curriculumn Coordinator and a Director of Educational Operations since becoming Superintendent last summer.
