Potter Road Students Participate in America 4 Boston Project

Potter Road students, staff, parents and visitors to the school all signed the canvas and sent messages of love, hope and inspiration to all of the people who will be running the marathon in honor of last year's victim, said Principal Paula Del Prete

If you visited the Boston Common this week, you might have wondered what was covering the ground.

It was a prayer canvas titled America 4 Boston, with more than 200 canvasses, representing all 50 states and every community along the Boston Marathon Route, signed by more than 100,000 individuals. There are even canvasses from around the world.

Representing Framingham is one from Potter Road Elementary School, said Principal Paula Del Prete.

The "Prayer Canvas" is a grass-roots project to honor the Boston Marathon bombing victims and survivors, as well as the City of Boston.

"Potter Road students, staff, parents and visitors to the school all signed the canvas and sent messages of love, hope and inspiration to all of the people who will be running the marathon in honor of last year's victims," said Del Prete.

"This was a wonderful opportunity for the Potter Road Community to contribute to this effort. We at Potter Road are honored to be a part of the "America 4 Boston" endeavor," said the principal.

Tomorrow, April 20 the canvas is expected to be at Fenway Park.

It traveled across the United States between May 2013 and Feb. 2014 collecting well wishes from the public. The canvas was presented to the City of Boston this month.

Parts of the canvas was at the Massachusetts State House Friday and Middlesex County Sheriff Peter Koutoujian stopped by to sign it.

The largest part of the canvasses were on display at Boston Common until 6 p.m. yesterday. Members of the Boston Celtics stopped by yesterday to sign it.
