Coach: Everyone Ran Personal Bests in Marian Cross-Country Tri-Meet

Marian captain Nick Seymour shattered his personal best of 16:59 and was the fastest overall time of the day by 1:16 at 16;12 for the 3-mile course.

On a beautiful Tuesday afternoon at Callahan State Park, the Marian High School Cross-Country team hosted a tri-meet with Austin Prep and Arlington Catholic.

Despite the two losses, the "Mustangs got a few outstanding results and everyone ran a personal record best on the course, said head coach Chris Collins.

Best time for the Mustang Boys was senior captain Nick Seymour at 16:12. That 3-mile time shattered his prior best of 16:59 and was the fastest overall time of the day by 1:16, said Collins.

Freshman Declan Walsh finished fifth overall with a time of 18:06 time.

Three other Mustang freshmen finished in the top 18 - Foxe Gladden was 15th with a time of 22:38, Mike Healey was 16th with a time of 22:44, and Sal Maglione was 18th with a time of 22:47.

For the Mustang girls, sophomore Megan Bubello finished fifth overall with a time of 21:07. Freshman Sherri Liu finished 16th with a time of 24:39 and senior captain Jen Santucci with a time of 26:08.

Marian High girls cross country team had to forfeit both meets as it only has three girls on the team, said Collins.

"I want to thank Assistant Coach John Sullivan (longtime Marian head coach) for assisting me through my first home meet successfully, along with the help of new Athletic Director Tom Boudreau and Asst. Principal Brian Pare, who were also on hand and helping," said Collins.
