United Way of Tri-County Offering Free Summer Lunches for Kids

Meals will be served at the Pearl Street Cupboard and Café from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for children age 18 or younger from July 1 to Aug. 23.

The United Way of Tri-County will be providing free lunches to children throughout the summer, as a part of the USDA Summer Food Service Program starting today, July 1.

The USDA program works to ensure children still have access to nutritious meals after the school year ends.

Lunch will be served at Pearl Street Cupboard and Café starting today, July 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Any child that is age 18 or younger is welcome to participate in the program. No pre-registration is required. No income requirement needed for the program.

The United Way of Tri-County will offer meals Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, until Aug. 23.

"Now that students are out of school, they still need well-balanced meals. Our Pearl Street Cupboard and café is looking forward to our first year as an open summer lunch program that will keep children’s bellies full,” said Jen Maseda, Senior Vice President, United Way of Tri-County.

It is our mission to provide hunger relief, improve the quality of life, and connect families and neighbors in need to essential services in our community. Our goal is to reduce levels of food insecurity, while strengthening the connections between people and available resources, said the United Way in a press release.
